Blessed Carlo Acutis To Be Canonized As Saint

Blessed Carlo Acutis to be Canonized as Saint

May 23, 2024: Second Miracle Recognized by Pope Francis

The Teenage Patron Saint of the Internet to Receive Formal Sainthood

On May 23, 2024, Pope Francis officially recognized the second miracle attributed to Blessed Carlo Acutis, paving the way for his canonization as a saint. The teenager, who died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15, has gained widespread recognition as the patron saint of the internet among Roman Catholics.

Acutis, known informally as God's Hacker, devoted his short life to spreading the message of the Gospel through digital technology. He created a website dedicated to the Eucharist and built computer programs to help people learn more about their faith. Despite his young age, Acutis had a profound impact on the Catholic community, inspiring countless individuals to embrace their faith and use technology for good.

The path to canonization requires two recognized miracles attributed to the candidate. The first miracle, which involved the healing of a Brazilian boy from a rare pancreatic disease, was recognized in 2020. The second miracle, which has not yet been officially disclosed, involved the cure of a child in South America.

The canonization process is a rigorous and lengthy one, but the recognition of the second miracle marks a significant step towards its completion. Once canonized, Carlo Acutis will become the youngest saint in modern history. His example will continue to inspire young people around the world, demonstrating the power of faith, technology, and the pursuit of holiness in the digital age.
